Fortune Press Writers

Hugh Ulric Swinscow Nisbet ( or Nisbit)

1897-1987

Author of Fortune Press title " SPREAD NO WINGS"

Nisbet for a writer and scholar.

A determined sleuth in search of the identity of the person to whom William Shakespeare dedicated the intriguing “ Sonnets”, concluding that the bard's dedicatee was one William Herbert, a member of the Earl of Powis’s lineage. [ The debate there still rages.]

Fortune Press published Nisbet’s novel “Spread No Wings” ( 1937).

A curious tale of a marriage.
